ST. LOUIS -- Saint Louis junior goalkeeper Olivia Silverman is the Atlantic 10 Conference women’s soccer co-Defensive Player of the Week for Oct. 15-21, the league office announced Monday.
Silverman recorded two shutouts as the Billikens completed the A-10 schedule 10-0-0 and clinched their first regular-season conference title since 2005. She tied her career high of six saves in a 3-0 win at Massachusetts, and she made one save in a 2-0 victory over George Washington on the home pitch at Robert R. Hermann Stadium.
Silverman leads the A-10 in goals against average (0.50), save percentage (.813) and shutouts (10), and she is tied for the league lead in wins (14). She is third in shutouts and 17th in GAA in the national rankings.
With the 2-0 blanking of George Washington – SLU’s fifth consecutive shutout – Silverman moved into a second-place tie in wins and a third-place tie in shutouts on Saint Louis’ single-season lists.
Saint Louis (15-3-1) is the No. 1 seed for the eight-team A-10 Championship, which begins with on-campus quarterfinal matches this weekend. The Billikens host eighth-seeded Dayton Sunday at 1 p.m.
SLU owns the second-longest active winning streak (school-record 11 games) in NCAA Division I women’s soccer.
